Letter from the Elders:

The elders have prayed and discussed for several weeks about returning to worship as the assembled body. We want to obey the clear teaching in the New Testament to gather as the body, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near” (Hebrews 10:24-25). We also want to use God’s wisdom (Proverbs 3:7; James 1:5-6) and show love to our neighbor (Matthew 22:39). Therefore, we have chosen to have a gathering outside of the church house while keeping with the livestream on all three platforms: www.christcommunity.us/sermons, Facebook, and YouTube.

Dan, the worship team, and Pastor Brian will be using the garage as the stage area as we worship in open air under the Heavens! Please feel free to wear shorts or summer clothing as the weather forecast may indicate since there will be no AC.

These are some guidelines to govern our assembly. If you are sick or have a compromised immune system, we ask that you stay at home and view the service through livestream.

  • The field inside the gate in the front of the house will be used for parking. Attendants will be onsite to guide you.

  • We will provide bottle water in a cooler to better serve you.

  • We will have masks for those wanting to wear them.

  • The bathroom inside the house is available for use and will be sanitized before and after the worship gathering.

  • We will have sanitizer set up in various locations for your use.

  • We ask that you bring your own chair and/or pop-up tent to setup outside where we will maintain appropriate social distancing.

  • Offering baskets will be available (not passed) for those wanting to give at the gathering. Also, we have the availability to give online at www.christcommunity.us/give or you may mail a check to “Christ Community Church” at PO Box 1394, Inverness, FL 34451.

We ask that you continue to pray for the leadership of Christ Community and our entire body as we navigate these unfamiliar times. We are currently unable to meet at Lecanto High School and we are looking at other temporary options. Amidst all the uncertainties, we are sure of this: that God is sovereign, Jesus is King, the Spirit indwells us and empowers us for the mission to intentionally make disciples of all nations by passionately preaching the gospel, compassionately loving one-another well, and zealously living for the glorification of God in all things as Christ builds His church!

March 24th Update on Schedule and Resources

John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Reading through the gospel of John, these words from Jesus stuck out this morning. What a promise! Jesus has overcome the world!!! This should give us peace, that Jesus has conquered through his life, death, resurrection, and ascension. Filling our minds with the news, circumstances of life, and our own fleshly thoughts unsettle our hearts. But Jesus has brought peace through the cross. As the Apostle Paul recorded, “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility” (Eph. 2:13-16).

Our prayer is to provide several means for you to invest in the Word and prayer over the next several weeks. Our current schedule until further notified is as follows:

  • Worship—Live Streaming on Sundays at 10:00am via Facebook, YouTube and on our Sermon Page

  • Bible study—we will email you resources for adults, children, and youth to do at home.

Let us continue pressing on to know the LORD (Hos. 6:3). It is vital that we as the body of Christ seek to exalt God, equip the saints, and engage the lost. Here are three personal ways to participate.

We are praying for God to do immeasurably more than we can even ask or think according to His Holy Spirit power (Eph. 3:20-21). “Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen” (Heb. 13:20-21).

March 18th Update

“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh,

but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word:

“You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Galatians 5:13-14).

Because we love our neighbor and want to serve one another for the glory of God (Psalm 115:1), our leadership at Christ Community Church has decided to adjust our ministry schedule. As followers of Jesus Christ we do not live in fear, but trust the Lord and use prudence in navigating these times.

  • No Bible Study @ 9am.

  • For the time being, we are unable to meet at Lecanto High School for our Sunday morning worship gathering. Starting this Sunday, March 22nd, we will live stream the service at 10:00am on our Facebook Page HERE.

  • It is our recommendation that groups of ten people or less gather for this time of worship.

  • No Men’s Prayer Breakfast.

  • No youth activities March 21st or 28th.

  • No Ladies’ Prayer Breakfast.

  • You can continue to give to sustain the ministry of the Christ Community and the missionaries we support through the Cooperative Program and the International Mission Board by mailing in a check to PO Box 1394 Inverness, FL, 34451, set up giving to the church through your online bank bill pay, or give online by clicking HERE.

  • Brian is working on a family worship guide to equip each person and family at home with studying the Bible, memorizing Scripture, praying together, praising the Lord through song, and growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18)

Remember, God is sovereignly working in our world and particularly in us to mold us into the image of Christ (Romans 8:29). Let us cast all our cares on Christ (1 Peter 5:7) during this time and trust him. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again” (2 Corinthians 1:9-10). Our faith and hope are in the God who raises the dead!
